Air Conditioner Freezing Up in Euclid, OH

Clogged Air Filters Can Cause Air Conditioner to Freeze

Ice should never form on an air conditioner, either on the inside or outside unit. This often happens, however, when a system’s thermostat is turned down too low or its air filter is clogged. Never set your thermostat below 70 degrees, and make sure you change your air filter once a month during the summer.

There are some other causes that require the help of a professional. You could have a bad indoor fan motor that is either running too slowly or not running at all. The fan belt could be loose, broken, or worn, or the relay may be bad. You could also be low on refrigerant due to a leak, or you may have a compressor contactor that has become stuck. Whatever the reason, you need to get in touch with a technician so that you can get your issue resolved as quickly as possible.

If you ever see ice, either on your inside or outside air conditioning unit, call Arco as soon as you can!
