Replace or Clean the Air Filter: Filters serve duel purposes. They stop pet dander, pollen and other particles from getting into the furnace and from circulating around your Beachwood home. Filters should be replaced or cleaned twice a year or more depending on how quickly they become blocked. The filter is inside the blower door. Gently wipe away any dirt or debris with a warm wet cloth. Take out the filter and soak it in warm soapy water to remove stubborn buildup.
Clean the Blower: The blower system is made up of the blower itself as well as pulleys and belts. These can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Allow them to dry first before putting the cover back on the furnace.
Check Flue Pipe: The large vent sticking out from your furnace is the flue pipe. Furnaces use combustion to create heat. This process produces carbon monoxide that leaves your Beachwood home through the flue. Patch any small holes you find with foil tape. However, if there are many or larger holes you will probably need to have a new flew installed. Also, check to be sure the flue is properly connected to the furnace itself.
