Emergency HVAC Plumbing and Electrical Services with Fast Response and Trusted Licensed Professionals

A water leak can start as a slow drip under a sink or appear suddenly as water spreading across a floor, ceiling or basement. Either way, the repair should begin with one question: which plumbing component is actually leaking? At Arco Home Services, our licensed plumbers repair water leaks throughout Cleveland Metro and Northeast Ohio after tracing the water back to the failed pipe, fixture, valve, connection or appliance-related plumbing.

We have served Northeast Ohio homes since 1955, including properties throughout Cleveland, Bedford Heights, Parma, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and communities near Lake Erie. Our approach is straightforward: locate the source, explain the repair, provide upfront pricing and fix the plumbing failure rather than only covering the visible symptom.

What Causes Water Leaks in Cleveland and Surrounding Homes?

Water leaks develop for many reasons, and the visible water does not always appear directly below the failed component. A puddle under a vanity may come from a faucet connection, shutoff valve, supply line, drain assembly or pipe inside the wall. Water near a water heater can come from a fitting, valve or the tank itself. A wet ceiling below a bathroom can trace back to a toilet seal, shower connection, tub drain or pressurized pipe.

Age, corrosion and normal wear are common causes, but Northeast Ohio weather also matters. Freezing can weaken or split piping, while repeated expansion and contraction can stress fittings and joints. High household pressure, movement, damaged seals and deteriorated fixture components can also create leaks.

  • Corroded or pinholed water-supply piping
  • Loose or failed fittings and threaded connections
  • Worn faucet cartridges, O-rings and valve components
  • Leaking shutoff valves or flexible supply connectors
  • Failed toilet seals, tub drains and shower connections
  • Frozen or previously frozen pipes
  • Water-heater valves, fittings or tank failures

How Do We Diagnose a Water Leak Before Repairing It?

We start by separating the water damage from the plumbing failure. That means checking the closest fixtures and connections, looking at when the leak occurs and determining whether the water is coming from a pressurized supply line or from a drain that leaks only when a fixture is used.

If the source is not visible, we may use leak-detection methods to narrow the location before opening finished surfaces. This is especially important when water is appearing through a ceiling, behind cabinetry or from an area where several plumbing lines run together. A correct diagnosis keeps the repair focused and helps avoid replacing a fitting or resealing a fixture that was never the problem.

Our Water Leak Repair Procedure

Once we identify the source, we plan the repair around the failed component, access and condition of the surrounding plumbing. A small fixture leak may require only a cartridge, seal, valve or connector. A damaged pipe may need a section removed and replaced. A leak that reveals widespread deterioration may require a broader repiping discussion. Here is the procedure we follow when addressing a water leak:

  1. Control the water. We isolate the affected fixture or shut down the necessary section of the home’s water supply so the leak is no longer causing active damage.
  2. Confirm the failed component. Before cutting or replacing anything, we verify the pipe, fitting, valve, fixture or connection responsible.
  3. Create the least disruptive access possible. If the leak is concealed, we open only the area needed to reach the plumbing safely and complete the repair.
  4. Repair or replace the damaged plumbing. We use an appropriate repair for the pipe material, fixture or connection and correct contributing issues we can identify.
  5. Restore water and pressure-test the repair. We bring the system back into service, check the repaired area for leakage and confirm normal operation.
  6. Explain what we found. If the surrounding plumbing shows corrosion, freeze damage or repeated failures, we explain whether additional repair or repiping should be considered.

What Types of Water Leaks Do We Repair?

Our licensed plumbers handle visible and concealed residential leaks involving supply piping, fixture connections, valves, toilets, faucets, sinks, tubs, showers and water-heater plumbing. If water is entering from a drain or sewer line, we shift to the correct drain or sewer service rather than treating every wet area as a supply-pipe leak.

We also distinguish between a plumbing leak and moisture from another system. Condensation from HVAC equipment, groundwater intrusion or a roof leak can resemble a plumbing problem. If our testing shows the water is not coming from the plumbing system, we tell you rather than selling a plumbing repair that will not solve it.

When Is a Water Leak an Emergency?

A slow drip should be repaired, but some leaks require immediate action. Water spraying from a pressurized pipe, a ceiling that is rapidly taking on water, a leak near electrical equipment, a burst pipe or a water-heater tank releasing water can cause significant damage quickly. If you can safely reach the main or fixture shutoff, stop the water and contact us for emergency plumbing service.

Cleveland winters increase the urgency of frozen and burst-pipe problems. If a pipe has frozen, do not use an open flame to thaw it. A pipe can split while frozen and release water only after it begins to thaw, so watch the area closely and call if you suspect damage.

Why Choose Arco Home Services for Water Leak Repair?

We bring more than 70 years of Northeast Ohio home-service experience to the repair, but the value is in how we use it. Our licensed plumbers diagnose before they repair, explain the work clearly and provide upfront pricing before approved work begins. With leaks, the fastest visible patch is not always the repair that stops water at its source.

If the leak points to a larger issue, we can connect the work to leak detection, pipe leak repair, faucet repair, water-heater repair or repiping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does water appear only when my washing machine or dishwasher runs?

That pattern can point to an appliance supply connection, discharge hose, drain connection or nearby plumbing that is active only during the appliance cycle.

Can a refrigerator ice-maker line cause significant water damage?

Yes. Small refrigerator supply lines can leak slowly behind the appliance or cabinetry for a long time before the damage becomes obvious.

Can high water pressure contribute to repeated household leaks?

Excessive pressure can place additional stress on valves, connectors and fixtures. If repeated leaks suggest a pressure problem, we can evaluate whether pressure control should be addressed.

Why is a water stain still visible after the plumbing leak is fixed?

Drywall, wood and insulation can remain damp after the water source is repaired, and staining does not disappear immediately. The plumbing repair stops new water; drying and finish restoration may take additional time.

Should an old shutoff valve be replaced while a nearby leak is repaired?

If the valve is leaking, seized or unreliable, replacing it can make sense while the plumbing is already accessible. We explain that separately rather than adding unnecessary work.

Can you provide documentation of what caused the leak?

We document the plumbing service and explain what we found. If you need records for an insurer or property file, tell us what information is required and we can provide the available service documentation.

Your home’s hero is standing by to restore your comfort, protect your home, and get your water flowing again — the right way.

We originally called Acro for one issue but ended up with getting our very out dated breaker boxes replaced which was definitely needed. Shavine M. and Evan S. were both our electric technicians for our full job. Shavine M. was the first technicians on site and was very prompt. The gentlemen let us know before hand the amount of time the power was going to be out and we gave them the space to work. After the work was completed, Shavine gave a walk through of the work completed today and a explaination of the next steps after. We are very happy with the work completed and Shavine and Evan were a pleasure to have as technicians on the job.
