Emergency HVAC Plumbing and Electrical Services with Fast Response and Trusted Licensed Professionals

Arco Home Services provides heating, cooling, plumbing, drain, and electrical services throughout Brooklyn, a city that built out fast in the years after World War II. The compact bungalows and Cape Cods along streets like Memphis, Biddulph, and Ridge still make up most of Brooklyn’s housing, and homes of that era were built solid, but they were built for 1950: smaller electrical services, cast-iron and clay drains, and in many cases no air conditioning at all. We have been modernizing houses exactly like these across Northeast Ohio since 1955, which is to say we have been working on Brooklyn-style homes since they were new.

Our licensed, insured, and certified technicians serve every corner of the city, with upfront pricing and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Can You Add Central Air Conditioning to an Older Brooklyn, OH Home?

Yes, and in most cases it is a straightforward project. Homes built in Brooklyn’s postwar years generally weren’t built with central air, since it didn’t become standard in new construction until decades later, but many of them do have forced-air heating. Where that ductwork exists, the expensive half of a central air installation is already in place.

The main things we check are whether the existing ducts are sized for cooling airflow and whether the home has enough return air, since heating ducts are sometimes undersized for an air conditioner. Homes heated by boilers have no ductwork to work with, and for those a ductless system delivers the same result without any duct construction.

Air Conditioning Installation in Brooklyn, OH

Homes built in Brooklyn’s postwar years generally weren’t built with air conditioning, since it didn’t become standard in new construction until decades later. Where a home has forced-air heat, though, much of the groundwork is already in place, and air conditioning installation becomes a far more contained project than most owners expect. We check whether the existing ducts and returns can carry cooling airflow before quoting, since heating ducts are sometimes undersized for an air conditioner, and we tell you upfront if duct work is needed rather than discovering it mid-install.

For Brooklyn homes heated by boilers, there is no ductwork to build on, and that is where ductless mini-splits earn their place. A wall-mounted unit cools the rooms you actually use without any duct construction at all, and the same system provides efficient heating in the shoulder seasons. Either path, we quote what your specific house needs rather than a one-size answer.

Air Conditioning Repair and Maintenance in Brooklyn, OH

Once a system is in, keeping it running is the cheaper half of the equation. Our air conditioning repair team covers every major brand across Brooklyn, from failed capacitors and refrigerant leaks to the airflow problems that show up in homes where cooling was added to heating ductwork years after the fact.

Older equipment in particular rewards attention before the season starts. A spring AC maintenance visit cleans the coils, checks the charge, and catches weak components while the weather is still forgiving, which is a better position than discovering the problem during the first stretch of real heat. When a system genuinely has nothing left to give, we say so plainly and quote the replacement rather than selling another repair.

Heating Services in Brooklyn, OH

Many Brooklyn furnaces are replacements of replacements, squeezed into the same narrow basement alcove the original octopus furnace once filled. Our furnace repair team keeps that aging equipment running safely, including the heat-exchanger inspections that matter most on older units, and we tell you plainly when a repair is throwing good money after bad.

When the current furnace reaches the end, furnace installation done properly means correct sizing for a compact, well-settled Brooklyn house, not a copy of whatever was there. Right-sized equipment runs longer cycles, heats more evenly, and lasts years longer than the oversized units that get swapped in without a load calculation.

Why Do Sewer Lines in Brooklyn, OH Keep Backing Up?

Repeat backups usually mean the problem is the pipe itself rather than what went down it. Older sewer laterals fail in a few predictable ways: clay pipe admits tree roots at its joints, cast iron corrodes and scales until the channel narrows, and Orangeburg pipe, used widely in postwar construction, deforms and loses its shape over time. Each of those catches debris, so backups get more frequent even when nothing about the household changes.

Clearing the line restores flow and buys time, which is a reasonable approach while the pipe is structurally sound. A camera inspection is what settles the question, showing the material, the condition, and whether you are looking at periodic maintenance or a replacement. If replacement is needed, we tell you whether trenchless is an option for your line, since a collapsed or badly offset pipe has to be dug.

Drain and Sewer Line Services in Brooklyn, OH

The clay sewer laterals under Brooklyn’s tree lawns are now 60 to 80 years old, and age plus tree roots is the classic recipe for recurring backups. Our drain clearing service handles the immediate clog, and a camera inspection shows what the line looks like from the inside before anyone talks about repairs.

When a lateral is genuinely failing, trenchless sewer line replacement renews the pipe through small access points instead of an open trench. On Brooklyn’s compact lots, that usually means the driveway and landscaping stay intact, which changes the economics of the whole project.

Plumbing Services in Brooklyn, OH

Original galvanized supply lines, aging shutoff valves, and water heaters wedged into tight utility corners are standard finds in Brooklyn basements. Our plumbing services in Brooklyn include:

If a pipe lets go at the worst hour, our guide to emergency plumbing in the Cleveland area covers what to do first and what happens when you call.

Electrical Panel Upgrades and Electrical Services in Brooklyn, OH

A 60-amp or 100-amp service was generous in 1952. It is not enough for a Brooklyn household running central air, a modern kitchen, and an EV in the driveway. Our electrical panel upgrades replace fuse boxes and undersized panels with 200-amp service, and circuit breaker installation sorts out the double-tapped and overloaded circuits that accumulate over 70 years of add-ons.

We also bring Brooklyn kitchens and bathrooms up to code with grounded, GFCI-protected outlets, replacing the two-prong receptacles that date whole rooms and quietly limit what you can safely plug in.

Why Brooklyn Homeowners Choose Arco Home Services

Arco has served Northeast Ohio since 1955, back when Brooklyn’s postwar streets were brand new, and homeowners here keep choosing us because we offer:

  • Seven decades of experience with homes exactly like Brooklyn’s
  • Family-owned and operated values
  • Licensed and insured technicians
  • Pricing set before work begins
  • Older-equipment care through our maintenance plan

Our professional technicians also serve neighboring Cleveland and Brook Park, so a Brooklyn call never waits on a truck coming from across the region.

Frequently Asked Questions About Home Services in Brooklyn

What does it cost to add central air to a Brooklyn bungalow with existing ducts?

Less than most owners expect, because the expensive half of the job, the ductwork, already exists. The price depends on system size and any duct corrections needed, so we quote after seeing the house rather than off a phone estimate.

My fuses still work fine. Why replace the fuse box?

Working fuses are not the issue; capacity and safety features are. Fuse panels predate grounding standards and arc-fault protection, many insurers surcharge or decline them, and they cannot support modern loads. Replacement is as much an insurance and safety upgrade as an electrical one.

How is trenchless sewer replacement different from digging up my yard?

Trenchless methods renew the pipe through small access points instead of an open trench, so the yard, driveway, and tree lawn stay largely intact. It is not right for every failure, which is why the camera inspection comes first.

Can you replace just the leaking section of galvanized pipe in my Brooklyn home?

We can, and sometimes that is the right call. But galvanized fails from the inside out, so one leak usually signals more coming. We will show you the pipe condition and price both the spot repair and the fuller replacement so you can choose with eyes open.

We contacted Arco Home Services for plumbing repairs. Jacob Adams was our tech. Jacob showed up on time and gave us an estimate for the multiple items we wanted done. He was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. He explained all steps and issues that were encountered and spent close to a day and a half completing the many repairs we requested. He knew what he was doing and worked diligently to make sure that the work was done timely and correctly. I can say it was a pleasure to have him complete the work we needed which included installing a new utility tub with new faucets and shut off valves, new bathroom faucet, installing a new sink with faucet and all plumbing in the second bathroom, repairing a toilet flange and reseating the toilet along with multiple other time consuming items to bring the plumbing in our older home into good working order. I can highly recommend Jacob's work and would ask for him again if I needed any additional repairs done. Thank you Jacob for a job well done.
